Baring portraits on show at the Guildhall
Two portraits from the Baring Archive's collection are currently on display at the Guildhall Art Gallery.
James Sant's 1872 portrait of George, Cecil and Everard Baring and E Tayleur's portrait of 3rd Lord Revelstoke as a boy have been loaned to the exhibition Seen and Heard: Victorian Children in the Frame.
The exhibition explores how attitudes towards children changed across the whole of society during the course of the 19th century. Traditionally seen as small adults, children came to be viewed with greater empathy and in need of special protection, whatever their background.
The exhibition runs until 28th April 2019.
